China's Anti-Dumping Measures on EU Brandy

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has issued Announcement [2024] No. 42, deciding to impose provisional anti-dumping measures in the form of cash security on related brandy imported from the European Union (EU), effective from October 11, 2024.

The Announcement states that the MOFCOM conducted the investigation in strict accordance with relevant Chinese laws and regulations as well as WTO rules. On August 29, 2024, the authority made a preliminary ruling, concluding that related brandy imported from the EU was being dumped, which poses a threat of material injury to the domestic brandy industry, and a causal link between the dumping and the threat of material injury is also established. Consequently, the MOFCOM decided to impose provisional anti-dumping measures in the form of cash security, with security rates for various companies ranging from 30.6% to 39.0%.
