Indonesia Trade Trends April 2024
According to data released by Statistics Indonesia, the country’s exports rose 1.7 per cent to USD 19.6 billion in April 2024, while imports increased 4.6 per cent to USD 16.1 billion in the same period, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 3.5 billion.
From January to April 2024, the value of Indonesian exports amounted to USD 81.9 billion, with China representing 23 per cent of the total, followed by the ASEAN region with 17.7 per cent, the United States with 10.5 per cent and India with 9 per cent.
During the first four months of 2024, the value of Indonesian imports reached USD 70.9 billion, contributing to Indonesia's manufacturing activities and keeping them in an expansive zone, with the manufacturing PMI index reaching 52.9 in April 2024.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a political and economic union of ten members, has 667 million people and a territory of 4.5 million Km2; is currently the third largest economy in Asia-Pacific and the fifth largest in the World. The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has a combined GDP of USD 4.2 trillion, according to estimates for 2024.
